STEP 1: Think about Rainbows & Unicorns
Even if you don’t believe in unicorns, you can dream. Imagine what’s on the “other side” by defining what success looks like in the context of your challenge topic.
- Idea Post (2 min) What does success look like? (i.e. How do people act? What are their attitudes? How do they interact? What do they do? How do they feel? How do YOU feel? What’s the environment like?)
- Share, Affinity Map, & post your answers on the “Where we want to be…” side of the Big Shift Map (10 min)
STEP 2: Back to Reality
Now that you’ve thought about what could be, it’s time to think about what is. Determine where you stand now by defining the current reality in relation to your challenge topic.
- Idea Post (3 min) What does my day-to-day actually look like? (i.e. How do people act? What are their attitudes? How do they interact? What do they do? How do they feel? How do YOU feel? What’s the environment like?)
- Share, Affinity Map, & post your answers on the “Where we are…” side of the Big Shift Map (12 min)
STEP 3: Sketchy Vision
Architects create renderings to help people see the future. Film producers create storyboards. You can create a learning map.
- Use your Big Shift Map to draw, sketch, write, collage, paint a learning map that illustrates connections & HOW you’ll get from where you are to where you want to be. Get creative…the sky’s the limit (20 min)
TIP: Whether you bridge the gap with the Golden Gate or hang-gliding, identify the approaches (actions, programs, processes, people) that you think will get you across the divide—& don’t forget the rainbows & unicorns.
